What We Believe

Kuskokwim Community Church is affiliated with the Assemblies of God, a fellowship of churches united around Jesus Christ and the authority of Scripture. These summaries reflect the Assemblies of God's 16 Fundamental Truths, presented here reformatted and using modern language to help communicate the same foundational beliefs.

We share these beliefs openly because we value honesty and clarity. At the same time, we recognize that people come from many different backgrounds and stages of faith. Our desire is not to create barriers, but to create space for people to ask questions, build relationships, and explore what it means to follow Jesus.

Simply put, our church community believes in God, believes Jesus saves, believes the Holy Spirit is at work today, believes the Church has a mission (purpose), and believes God has given us hope for the future.

In essential beliefs, unity
In non-essential beliefs, liberty
In all things, charity

The Bible
We believe the Bible is God's inspired Word to us.
Through the Old and New Testaments, God reveals who He is, how He relates to people, and how we are called to live. We trust Scripture as the final authority for what we believe and how we live.
God
We believe there is one true God.
He is the Creator of all things, the Savior of humanity, and He has revealed Himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: three persons in one God.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus is the Son of God.
He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross for our sins, rose from the dead, and now reigns with the Father. Through Jesus, we can know God and experience salvation.
The Holy Spirit
We believe God desires to fill believers with the Holy Spirit.
This empowering experience equips us to live for Christ, serve others, share our faith, and participate in God's work through the gifts of the Spirit.
Humanity's Need for God
We believe people were created in God's image and for relationship with Him.
Because of sin, humanity became separated from God and unable to restore that relationship on its own.
Salvation
We believe salvation is a gift of God's grace through Jesus Christ.
When we turn from sin and place our faith in Jesus, we are forgiven, made new, and welcomed into God's family. A transformed life is evidence of God's work within us.
Water Baptism and Communion
We believe Jesus gave the Church two important practices.
Water Baptism is a public declaration that a person has chosen to follow Jesus and has been made new in Him.

Communion is a time to remember Christ's sacrifice, celebrate our relationship with Him, and look forward to His return.
Speaking in Tongues
We believe the initial evidence of the baptism in the Holy Spirit is speaking in tongues as the Spirit enables.
This reflects the pattern seen in the New Testament and is one way God confirms this empowering work of the Spirit.
Growing in Holiness
We believe God calls His people to become more like Jesus.
Through the work of the Holy Spirit, we continually turn away from sin and grow in obedience, character, and devotion to God.
Divine Healing
We believe Jesus still heals today.
Because of His love and power, we pray for physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual healing, trusting God to work according to His will.
The Church
We believe the Church is God's family and the body of Christ on earth.
Together we worship God, grow as disciples, care for one another, and share the good news of Jesus with the world. The Holy Spirit empowers the Church to continue Christ's mission.
Ministry
We believe God calls and equips people to serve.
Church leaders are given to help God's people grow, worship, and participate in His mission of reaching the world.
The Return of Christ
We believe Jesus will return for His people.
This is a source of hope, encouragement, and expectation for every believer.
Christ's Reign
We believe Jesus will one day establish His kingdom in fullness.
He will reign in righteousness and peace, bringing justice, restoration, and the fulfillment of God's promises.
Final Judgment
We believe every person will one day stand before God.
God is perfectly just and will bring a final judgment, rewarding righteousness and bringing an end to evil.
A New Heaven and a New Earth
We believe God will make all things new.
He will create a new heaven and a new earth where His people will live with Him forever in perfect peace, joy, and righteousness.
